From the very first kick off meeting, our experienced project managers will discuss all the elements of your company’s requirements to ensure your project is delivered seamlessly, securely and efficiently.
We have a wealth of knowledge in IT Migration and Data Migration services and generally follow 6 steps which we have detailed below.
- 1 – Project Management
Our experienced Project Management team have delivered many successful IT Migration and Data Migration projects for a variety of different business sectors. Our Project Managers will keep you informed and up to date, giving you the peace of mind for a successful outcome. - 2 – Data Discovery & Collection
At the start of your project a full inventory of your Hardware, Operating Systems & Application software will be undertaken and audited. This audit will highlight any issues that could arise with regards to upgrading any of the systems that are currently in place. This will avoid problems occurring further down the line which could subsequently delay the delivery of the project. - 3 – Analysis
Where a system is being moved or replaced a full analysis of all the separate areas that make up the system will be completed. This will ensure full functionality post-migration and avoid data discrepancies. - 4 – Design
Once the business requirement has been agreed, the design parameters will be thoroughly investigated to clarify any planned and/or integrated transitions. If there are any 3rd party applications currently being used, these will be investigated thoroughly to ensure that they are still fully functional on any new platforms that are being introduced. - 5 – Build & Test
Once the investigation process has been completed, the build process will then begin, followed by the testing process. If any additions and changes are needed these can be undertaken at this point. - 6 – Data Migration
This is the process of transferring data between computer storage types or file formats. It is a key consideration for any system implementation, upgrade, or consolidation. The process is carried out for a variety of reasons, including server or storage equipment replacements, maintenance or upgrades, application migration, website consolidation and data center relocation.
To achieve an effective procedure, data on the old system is mapped to the new system utilising a design for data extraction and data loading. During the verification process, both systems may be run in parallel. This will identify any issues with the data and avoid any discrepancies.
Automated and manual data cleaning is commonly performed in data migration to improve data quality, eliminate redundant or obsolete information, and match the requirements of the new system.
IT migration phases (design, extraction, cleansing, load, verification) for applications of moderate to high complexity are commonly repeated several times before the new system is deployed.
